ABSTRACT
They feature elaborate carvings which carry spiritual meanings and are a testament to the rich architectural heritage of India. A gopuram or gopura is a monumental entrance tower, usually ornate, at the entrance of a Hindu temple, in the Dravidian architecture of South India, and Sri Lanka. The most attractive feature of Dravidian temples is their gopurams, which are massive, ornate gateways that mark the entrance. These towering structures are covered with intricate carvings of deities, celestial beings, and scenes from Hindu epics.
